What a wonderful place, Little Fingerling and gardens are lovely. Startpoint beach was quiet and unspoilt, East Portlemouth gives lovely views over Salcombe with beautiful beaches and hidden coves round the costal path. It’s a lovely walk into Dartmouth too, this has been a welcome break from home.

Came to have quality family time before my brother has a serious operation. What a beautiful place, so quiet and peaceful place just what the doctor ordered. We had a brilliant time a briefly forgot our problems, we will always remember Valley Springs.

"We returned home last night after a very enjoyable stay in Fingerling Barn - the accommodation is very good quality, clean, spacious and well-maintained having being recently refurbished.
The setting of the barn is very tranquil, with a nearby pond containing ducks and moorhen. We enjoyed eating out on the patio and here our children enjoyed daily visits by a nearby resident's friendly Spaniel called Megan!
The owners of Fingerling Barn have provided a very useful and comprehensive guide to the local area which includes photos and descriptions of the local beaches, walks, activities etc.
One of the walks described in the house guide was a coastal walk at East Prawle and we'd recommend this walk for the fine views.
We are beginner surfers and we tried our hand at surfing at Bantham with a two hour lesson with Bantham Surfing Academy. We thought that the instructor, Dave, was excellent and very encouraging to us novices!
We also played golf at the 9 hole courses at Thurlestone Hotel and at Dartmouth. The afternoon rates during the week at Dartmouth were good value for money - £20 for the the 18 hole course and £12 for the 9 hole which includes a couple of par 5s.
All in all, we'd recommend Fingerling Barn as a holiday destination in a very attractive area of Devon."

"Our stay at Fingerling Barn was wonderful. The setting in which the Barn sits is breathtaking and the accommodation is to a very high standard and everything that you required in the kitchen was there, even down to a lemon squeezer. It was great being able to sit down as a family and enjoy our meals at the huge table in the dining room, there was so much space for all of us. We were greeted by the owners on our arrival who were down doing some gardening. They were very helpful and ensured that we were ok before they left. We would recommend this holiday to everyone and wished that we had booked 2 weeks instead of 1.

Short Breaks at Valley Springs
We are open all year round and, with so much to offer, it is the perfect place for a short break or out-of-season escape.
The mild climate here means that it is always possible to enjoy the lovely walks that surround us; there is wildlife to see all year round and the coast has a different face for every season.
We offer short breaks, booked in advance, between the beginning of November and Easter. They are even sometimes available at short notice during April, May, June and October, so it is always worth enquiring - we will fit you in if we can.
Our weekend break is from a Friday afternoon to a Monday morning - giving you plenty of time to drive down and settle in ready for two full days of relaxing or exploring, or even both!
If you have more flexibility, our mid-week breaks offer fantastic value for money - and you are more likely to have the local beaches and coastal path to yourselves! Arrive on a Monday afternoon and enjoy three full days before heading home on the Friday morning.
