"We returned home last night after a very enjoyable stay in Fingerling Barn - the accommodation is very good quality, clean, spacious and well-maintained having being recently refurbished.
The setting of the barn is very tranquil, with a nearby pond containing ducks and moorhen. We enjoyed eating out on the patio and here our children enjoyed daily visits by a nearby resident's friendly Spaniel called Megan!
The owners of Fingerling Barn have provided a very useful and comprehensive guide to the local area which includes photos and descriptions of the local beaches, walks, activities etc.
One of the walks described in the house guide was a coastal walk at East Prawle and we'd recommend this walk for the fine views.
We are beginner surfers and we tried our hand at surfing at Bantham with a two hour lesson with Bantham Surfing Academy. We thought that the instructor, Dave, was excellent and very encouraging to us novices!
We also played golf at the 9 hole courses at Thurlestone Hotel and at Dartmouth. The afternoon rates during the week at Dartmouth were good value for money - £20 for the the 18 hole course and £12 for the 9 hole which includes a couple of par 5s.
All in all, we'd recommend Fingerling Barn as a holiday destination in a very attractive area of Devon."

"Our stay at Fingerling Barn was wonderful. The setting in which the Barn sits is breathtaking and the accommodation is to a very high standard and everything that you required in the kitchen was there, even down to a lemon squeezer. It was great being able to sit down as a family and enjoy our meals at the huge table in the dining room, there was so much space for all of us. We were greeted by the owners on our arrival who were down doing some gardening. They were very helpful and ensured that we were ok before they left. We would recommend this holiday to everyone and wished that we had booked 2 weeks instead of 1.

About Valley Springs
Valley Springs self catering holiday cottages are restored traditional stone buildings dating back to the 18th century, light airy interiors with excellent views over the duck pond, cool in summer and warmly heated in winter. In a beautiful, secluded valley, between Dartmouth and Salcombe in South Devon, our comfortable self-catering cottages await you just inland from Slapton Sands, and its well-known ley nature reserve. Set 100 yards off a narrow, high-hedged Devon lane, it's surrounded by the soft, undulating countryside and red soiled farmland of the South Hams, Devon. With a combination of accommodation to suit the family or a couple taking a main holiday or a short break. The small cluster of cottages well spaced out around a central pond have their own character, charmingly decorated to create relaxing living spaces, well heated during off peak season and well equipped including microwave cookers, fridges, freezers, electric cookers, dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, flat screen tv, DVD and CD/radio in all cottages. We provide high quality linen, bath and hand towels, tea towels, cots, stair gates fitted and high chairs.
Valley Springs is an exclusive self-catering holiday barn conversion complex with only five cottages around a central pond situated in a rural environment offering total piece and relaxation.
